Surprise Proposals

The path to “happily ever after” has many stops along the way, one of the most exciting, by far, being the proposal!

While sometimes spontaneous, more often than not a great proposal involves a great deal of thought and planning by one partner while the other remains blissfully unaware until…POP!...the big question.

The where and how of this exciting moment is one you’ll both want to relive forever. But you may need help with that! Especially because if you’re the one proposing, you’ll be completely focused, perhaps on one knee, perhaps holding out a ring, but in no way able to snap a pic while it’s happening. And if you’re the lucky recipient of this life-changing proposal, your stomach will flip and a photograph will be the last thing on your mind!

So if you’re planning a surprise proposal give yourselves both a gift that takes the planning and memory of the moment to another level by having one of our talented photographers waiting in the wings to capture it all. Not only will you love being able to share your illustrated proposal story with family and friends, but you’ll be able to enjoy it yourselves from now to your umpteenth anniversary!

Engagement & Pre-Wedding Photos

The next picture op on the wedding journey is one you get to plan together. Engagement photos!

Over the years engagement photos have become more and more popular, as a way to officially kick off the wedding activities but also as a way to visually begin telling your story as a couple. And our photographers are perfectly primed to do both!

The engagement photo session typically lasts 2-3 hours and is guided by your unique style as a couple. We’ll go to a location of your choice, either chosen for its beautiful backdrops, or because it has a special meaning, perhaps where you had a first date or where you love vacationing. Then, the sky's the limit! Are you two surfers? Get your boards and hold hands on the sand. Love an afternoon of reading and coffee? We’ll get cozy shots of you at a favorite cafe kissing over a shared book. With your guidance and input, our photographers will capture your unique style and love, whether that’s fun and sassy, or serious and romantic.

Another option with a twist are pre-wedding photos. The concept is the same as engagement photos, the difference being that you take the photos in your gorgeous wedding attire. So yes, you’re getting a sneak peek at each other in your wedding duds, but you’re also getting a private, photographed dress rehearsal in another special location!

Use your beautiful engagement or pre-wedding photos on your wedding website or for other wedding details, like your guest book or as cool black and white pictures on the cake. It’s accepted practice to use them for save-the-date announcements. Get really creative and even line the envelopes and create personalized stamps with your favorite shots, showing friends and family that you two are a whole package!

Bachelor & Bachelorette Parties and Bridal Showers

While the wedding is indisputably the main event, there are lots of small, more intimate gatherings and events that help build up to the day, each one special and memorable. Traditionally, these pre-events are the bachelorette and bachelor parties (“hen" and "stag” do’s if you’re in the U.K.!) and the bridal shower.

Bachelorette and bachelor parties have evolved over the decades to include all sorts of possibilities, from nights out on the town to spa or golf outings to whole weekends away with close friends, while bridal showers tend to be an afternoon party hosted at a friend’s home and include drinks and finger foods, games and gifts priming the bride for her future union.

These days, the modern couple picks and chooses what is right for them, tailoring these traditional events to their own style and interests, family and friends. Regardless if you have all of them, one of them, or some other sort of pre-wedding event, our professional photographers can be present to capture the laughter, love and moments that add to your unique wedding story.

Elopements

In times gone by, eloping meant running off to get married in secret, typically without your parents knowing! Of course, this still happens, but today it can be so much more.

How about your parents running off to get married in secret, but inviting you along?! That’s what happened to my step-sisters and me. We thought we were on a family vacation to Hawaii until, upon arrival, our parents announced we were actually there so they could get married! The next evening we stood by them for their intimate ceremony on a beach in Kauai. It was like a destination wedding and surprise party all in one!

If for whatever reason the idea of skipping the traditional ceremony or having a destination wedding with just a few close witnesses sounds appealing, elopement might be right for you. It can be exciting and can include anyone you wish these days, even your parents. And any of our photographers around the world can be present to make sure you get your own set of beautiful wedding photographs to take home as newlyweds.

And, when you get back and announce to the rest of your friends and family that you’re married, you can show them exactly how and where it happened, which is half the fun!

Post-wedding Photos

Post-wedding photos give you one more picture perfect opportunity to gaze into each other’s eyes, all dressed up in your wedding attire.

The wedding day will be magical, but also a little hectic, filled with so many joyful activities, photographs being just one. So if you didn’t opt for pre-wedding photos in your matrimonial duds, this can be a relaxed, joyful way to get in a few more shots with one of our professional photographers. And after all the effort that goes into picking out what you wear to your wedding (and how much it often costs!), why not? Let our photographers showcase you in your wedding finery at a special location of your choice.

And don’t forget the option to “trash the dress.” This doesn’t apply to just wedding dresses but does stem from modern brides not interested in boxing their dresses for eternity and instead opting for post-wedding photos that involve ocean waves, mud, color bombs, you name it, something that might just destroy their dress but also result in amazing, over-the-top glamour shots. The idea took hold and couples have been trashing their wedding attire for the sake of stunning photographs ever since. Ask one of our photographers for more ideas!

Honeymoon

Folks think that gorgeous, professional photos of you as a couple have to stop after the wedding, when you’re back to relying on awkward selfies or the kindness of strangers. Not at all!

The wedding journey and celebration continue with the honeymoon, and so should stunning photographic memories, whether you leave right after the ceremony or weeks later. This is when you’re basking in the first glows of marital bliss. And we guarantee you won’t want to miss capturing it in all its glory, especially if you’ve traveled somewhere special.

Still thinking about where to go? Look through our Destinations to get some fabulous ideas. Already have a dream spot picked out? We can’t wait to hear where! Most likely we already have a photographer there or can arrange to get one to you.

Once on your honeymoon, set aside an hour or two to ensure you get photographs of your new marital adventures and happiness, bringing home photos that you’ll treasure forever and that will also make wonderful thank you cards and framed gifts.

Wedding Gifts

Speaking of gifts, don’t agonize over what to ask friends and family to get you for your wedding. Add us to your wedding registry!

As you two start your lives together, friends and family want to give you something. Ask for things that are not only useful but will help you two create memories. Yes, the Kitchen Aide and new eco-friendly vacuum cleaner may be essential to building a home together, but so are experiences. When you’re celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary, this is what you’re going to value most of all.

And if you’re a guest at a wedding and wondering what to give, consider one of our gift cards. The unique gift of a professional travel photographer is perfect for every couple. Everyone wants to have memories and photos together to cherish and look at later. Not all of us remember to do that for ourselves! Thankfully, this is where friends and family can help!
