Recycle for the life cycle: sustainable travel guide
Mother Earth needs us to play our parts. Every action makes a difference, no matter how small. Just because we are only able to make a few changes, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make them at all. It begins with us, and when our peers see us make these easy yet impactful choices, they shall soon follow in our footsteps.
One person can’t do it alone, but if we all work together we can bring our home back to the healthy and thriving state it belongs in. The condition of the environment is a reflection of humanity, and we’ve got a mess to clean up!
We want to make it easy for you! Below, we’ve outlined simple solutions and tips that will help to reduce your carbon footprint.
It only takes a small step in the right direction, to cause waves of change and awareness in our communities!
REDUCE
Make every drop count 💧- while you shower, brush your teeth or do dishes - use only what you need and switch off the tap when you’re not using it!
Turn off the lights 💡- and unplug your appliances when not in use. Both mother earth and your energy bill will thank you!
Toxic and chemical products ⚠️ - from cleaning to beauty, you’d be surprised at the amount of harsh chemicals poured into everyday household items. Clean up your home for real and switch to natural solutions that both get the job done, are healthier for us, and smell better!
Walk or use public transportation 🚗 - share your rides, bike, or opt for more energy efficient vehicles.
REUSE
Carry your own cutlery 🍴- Single use plastic is far too common and far too wasteful. Get your own and feel empowered every time you refuse plastic-wear.
Get a reusable water bottle 🚫🥤- Plastic bottles are both toxic and short-lived, and don’t get us started on styrofoam(it can’t even be recycled)! Avoid consuming these products at all costs. It also saves money in the long run.
BYOB (bring your own bag) 🛍- Plastic bags are so overrated and wasteful. Set an example and show up to the shop prepared. Keeping a compact shopping bag in your car or purse is a great way to get started!
Pack your own take-out 🥡- Everybody loves leftovers. Come equipped with a collapsable container and dine in and out waste-free! Don’t forget your shopping bag too!
REFUSE
Single-use plastic ☠️- It’s a problem. Plastic cups, produce bags, cutlery, straws, lids and so much more.
Animal Tourist Attractions 🎪- This one is more so about protecting our wildlife. Find out more here.
Plastic Straws 🥤- They are so common, and so damaging. Opt for a reusable or compact straw!
Beverage lids / tops - Are you really going to spill? Just wondering 😂.
RECYCLE
Buy items made from earth-friendly recycled materials ♻️- Check out sustainable fabrics here.
Get thrifty! - Buy second hand, you can always find amazing quality clothing, furniture, appliances and more. There are amazing online resources that can help you get started.
Donate - Think twice before tossing unwanted items, there may be someone out there who could really use it. You know what they say: “One mans trash is another mans treasure”.
Plastic, aluminum, paper, glass, and cardboard - If you’re new to the whole recycling realm. This site can help!

Earth day matters because our planet matters. It’s the only home we have, and the power to change the direction in which we’re headed lies within our hands. If we continue to consume, produce, and power our lives the way we are now, forests, weather systems, and our oceans will be overwhelmed and eventually collapse. Unsustainable agriculture, fisheries, infrastructure, mining and energy are leading us straight into an unprecedented loss of biodiversity, habitat degradation, pollution and climate change. The time for action is NOW. Let’s set an example for our communities and peers, because if we don’t make a positive change, then who will?
