Sizzling summer street photoshoots šŸ”„

Thereā€™s a reason there are so many songs about city streets, from Eddy Grantā€™s ā€œElectric Avenueā€ (an iconic street in Brixton, London) to Chance the Rapperā€™s ā€œ65th & Inglesideā€ (an intersection on the East Side of Chicago). The streets we grow up around, walk down daily, and live our lives on become a part of us. And when we travel, it is by walking other peopleā€™s streets, with eyes and hearts open, that we come to know the true spirit of a place.

Right now, the worldā€™s city streets are laden with more meaning than some of us have ever experienced.

For many of us this summer, our local streets are the only place we can escape to, either for a night out or an early morning walk. For others, the literal asphalt of the streets has been our haunt for the past few weeks as we gathered with like minded people to have important conversations. And for those who have ventured to faraway cities this season, the new streets underfoot are a much-needed balm to a spirit that has been aching for travel these past months.

Whatever streets you find yourself on this summer, our professional photographers want to set you in a street photoshoot that makes your summer sizzle! Because...Summer + Streets + You = Cool šŸ˜Ž

Street photography is a favorite photographic style of many of the Shoot My Travel photographers. The style itself has traditionally been considered a more candid, unposed approach that showcases people and humanity in public arenas. As with all art, there is much debate and discussion amongst the artists who practice it as to its exact definition, but for us, street photography is most definitely all about street portraits of our amazing clients. According to Digital Photography Magazine, ā€œA street portrait should retain the spontaneity of street photography while capturing the essence of the person or moment.ā€ We couldnā€™t agree more!

We also think it goes without saying that street photography and travel photography go together like...well, a couple walking down the street hand-in-hand! Thatā€™s because both focus on storytelling. A great street photoshoot tells a story that draws the viewers in. Our professional photographers want to tell your story and leave you with photographs that draw you (and everyone else who sees them!) further into the magic of your own lives.

Using many of the traditional aspects of street photography, our local photographers will become the observer, disappearing into the proverbial urban jungle, and letting you lead the way on your own streetside adventure. They may capture you from across the street, through glass doors, from the back as you walk, or even as silhouettes against the sunset, sunrise or night lights of the city. Theyā€™ll use symmetry and juxtaposition, and all manner of street photography skills.

Their mission: to capture you engaging with your surroundings and relishing in whatever the streets have to offer that summer day. Because thatā€™s what is so powerful about street photography...the unprompted, unrehearsed possibilities!

Though you and your professional photographer will absolutely choose the locations that appeal to your sense of style and that will best bring to life your vision, the street itself will then add its own element of surprise and unique props. Think: street performers and musicians, street art, shops and vendors, traffic and lights, people and animals. In street photography, both the photographer and subject get the thrill...the creative possibilities...of the unexpected. You can definitely do posed pictures (and should!), but the street will offer you a level of vibrancy and spontaneity thatā€™ll take your pictures to another level!

In a street photoshoot you and the location become costars, looking your best when youā€™re playing off each other. You bring your personality, style and smiles. The street brings its amazing architecture, open spaces, crowds, and unique charms. Picture yourself framed by a distinctive doorway or public art, or standing still amidst a blur of traffic or a flock of pigeons taking flight. Youā€™ll pop against busy streets, empty subways, and all the city lights.

Ultimately, weā€™re going to take the best of street photography and street portraiture and bring it to your amazing photoshoot, at home or abroad. Because a street photoshoot can help you recapture the magic of your home town and memorialize your magical moments spent in cities faraway. Either way, it will tell your story against a stunning backdrop that summer, with its long days, long shadows, warm nights and warm smiles, will only enhance.
