We know summer is the perfect opportunity to take a quick pause on everyday life, and go off to a traveling adventure (maybe cross off that bucket list travel destinations?). Whether you choose to do a road-trip or to change time zones, let’s face it—the planning process could be a little daunting. And with so many beautiful backdrops around the world, even just choosing the right city is hard!

There is a ton of information out there to help with your travel plans, but we know that the only way of getting the right travel insights is from the locals themselves. So, since we happen to have over 1,000 culture gurus across the world, we thought we would share with you a series that can help you plan (or decide) your upcoming trip.

Favorite dish has got to be Babi Guling (suckling pig in balinese marinade)

What is your favorite photo backdrop in the city?

I am a big fan of the black sand beach, it’s incredibly profound for photos

What are some travel hacks to unlock a true local experience?

Strongly believe that to embrace the true local experience is by the food. It is the best way to know the people and the vibrancy of a new place you’re traveling to, therefore do not be afraid to listen to locals’ recommendations for excellent tasting food of the area

Here are some of our own tips for traveling to Bali:

• Respect for religious customs. It’s called the “Island of the Gods” for a reason. Respect the locals’ practices and dress modestly, always covering shoulders and knees

• Be cautious of the animals that roam freely. Though a wandering monkey may seem like the perfect photo-op, they are actually notorious for stealing out of bags and pockets. Other wild animals may also carry diseases

• Invest in a reusable water bottle. Keeping hydrated in Bali’s heat is important, but an estimated three million plastic bottles are thrown away in Bali each month. Bringing a stainless steel bottle is a great way to save money on numerous water bottles and save the environment
