Where most would splurge on an expensive gift like a watch or a delicate necklace 💎, Cydne and her husband did things a little differently for their anniversary. These two changed the game and gave each other a gift that will last a lifetime. They took a trip from Houston, Texas to the Italian city of Florence. Best known as the “Cradle of Renaissance” for its buildings, beautiful monuments, and historic churches. Eye-catching architecture, pasta, and wine? It’s the perfect package!
Spending time together in a whole new country is so special, it’s a good thing they decided to pack a photographer so to remember it forever! Nothing beats a beautifully professional perspective.

So, what made you two want to go to Italy?
“It was our one year anniversary and instead of buying each other gifts we booked a trip to somewhere we haven't been together. Not to mention, we love wine and beautiful places”.

Florence is an incredibly beautiful city with endless roads and routes to get caught up in. But if you’re not going against the grail a bit you may end up in the same places all the tourists go. Not that it would be a bad thing, but if you’re interested in getting a more local look, take Cydnes advice! She explained to us that in order to experience the real Florence, one must: “Venture out of the main plaza areas or even take a train just 20 minutes away. You'll find some of the most charming places. Also, walk around during the early morning or late at night. It’s so romantic without all the crowds”.

But they weren't walking all the time, they rode the train too! “We did a cooking class with a local couple in their home in the Florence area. They picked us up at the train station in Florence, and we rode with them to their stop. We spent all afternoon with them. They taught us the cooking traditions their grandmothers used growing up and learned so much about the Italian culture. It was fantastic! We would definitely suggest going that route instead of using the big companies in town”.
Having the privilege to capture such precious moments is what makes travel photography so worthwhile.

Each destination offers its own unique essence and unforgettable experience, and here at Shoot My Travel we are honored to offer an international photography service that not only connects travelers and locals from all around the world, but we work to capture those moments worth looking back at for many years to come. There is no better souvenir.

*For those of you interested in the local cooking class, Cydne found the contact through a sweet blog called LoveXfood. Check it out!
