It’s not often you get the chance to celebrate your final moments before officially tying the knot. Getting married is a big and exciting step and it’s definitely something worth commemorating. Luckily for us, that can mean whatever we want it to mean! It could be a relaxing week-long trip to the spa, or maybe a classic and slightly rowdy full blown out bachelorette party. In this case, it was taken as an opportunity to go off on a best friends trip, and into the big city to explore all the nooks and crannies that make the concrete jungle of Hong Kong so preciously unique.

Lauren, being the good sister that she is, wanted to ensure Abigale’s last singles trip was a memorable one, so she booked two tickets to Abigale’s favorite westernized Asian city: Hong Kong! 🇨🇳

As they stepped off the plane, Abi and Lauren couldn't help but immediately notice the abundance of skyscrapers in this massive city of over 7.3 million inhabitants. That’s huge compared to the 2.6 million locals back in their hometown of Taipei. Numbers aside, they were on a mission. A mission to find a mouse. And they didn't have to stay within the hustle and bustle of the city to find it. A short ride away they check into a gorgeous Disneyland Resort and well… the rest is history.

Having both enjoyed their magical stay, they waved goodbye to all the Mickey mice and moved on to a less whimsical (but just as exciting) adventure. South of Hollywood road (SOHO), they found themselves circling through the buzzing central area of Hong Kong. With countless shops and excellent restaurants to explore, consistent coffee breaks allowed them to recharge when the noise from all the movement caught up to them.

After all that walking around, one’s bound to get a little hungry. It turns out that Hong Kong is well known for it’s roasted duck and Dim sum (a style of Chinese cuisine served in small steamer baskets), which they both loved. On this particular night, rather than sticking to tradition, Lauren took a different route and invited some close friends and family to a surprise dinner celebration at a high energy Spanish restaurant called The Optimist.

This is the part where time got in the way (something we can all relate to). Lauren, who was running late, had asked the bride-to-be to meet her at the restaurant. Unfortunately, all the secretly invited guests also got caught up, leaving Abigale to wait alone and confused at a table reserved for a massive group of people. Abi couldn’t help but get antsy. It’s troubling not knowing what to expect. But the moment everyone walked through the door, all previous irritation she had dissipated entirely. It was such a pleasant surprise to see old friends and family. They shared a classic Spanish Parrillada (grilled dinner usually including meats) and ended the night with a french-toast inspired cinnamon cake that was almost as sweet as having all the people she loved the most come together to celebrate her final days as a #semi-single-lady. 💗

The night came to a close, and they all went their separate ways. Lucky to have each other, these two sisters rode home to their favorite new hotel called The Murray, where they were gifted a room upgrade due to the special occasion. ❤️

This trip was memorable indeed. But what made it so special was spending all that time together.
